In my opinion, OCM and MOS are very ambitious, but fail to achieve the high standards promised by the Sales Tech folks. Hopefully, the presentation points out the good, the bad and the ugly.

We started using the EMGC Harvester functionality to scrape config information for OCM, as opposed to individual collectors in each Oracle Home (we have over 25 Oracle Homes, some that change frequently due to upgrades/patches). Even though it is far from perfect, at least it is easier to keep running then the OCM collectors. So far.

Yes, I will show both sides of the product – pro and con. There are sites that don’t own any of the Grid Control Management Packs which OCM can provide some of the inventory functionality for Oracle products.

We are having a discussion with our Sales folks and we plan to tell them not only are we not buying more packs, but we are actually going to stop paying for 3 packs we currently “own” and do not really use. Those Sales people are pernicious and pertinacious! =)
