IOUG Collaborate 2008 – Denver Colorado

Two presentations this year, look for COLLABORATE 09 in Orlando.

DATA GUARD and FLASHBACK – Stress Testing, HotFixes and Data Recovery

“Abstract: The combination of FLASHBACK and DATA GUARD makes recovery scenarios and hot fix patching on a physical standby possible by making it read/write temporarily. This can reduce or eliminate downtime for the primary database for certain types of recovery situations and may reduce or eliminate the need for duplication of hardware for testing purposes.”

Automatic Documentation Repository Using Configuration Support Manager

“If there was a way of automating the collection of numerous details about your systems at all levels and uploading that information to MetaLink without manual intervention, how would that information be helpful to your organization? Configuration Support Manager 2.0 will bring a completely new look and feel to one of the tabs found on Oracle’s Metalink Support Website. Large projects, resources or people across disparate geographic boundaries could interact and view details or compare the configurations. If your primary site was completely unavailable then the uploaded information could be used for recreating a production environment.”
